Field / Listening
The same field,
given time.
A small center holds. Something reaches out, another voice answers, and the room remembers. Then, silence.
Listening is an optional, 24-second musical expression of a Field. It uses the same composition as the image. You can sit with either expression, or experience them together.

A shared language
A low, steady D is the audible counterpart of the fixed capsule. The surrounding voices change their material, register, space, and relationship. Each color has an authored musical character:
- Teal
- Breathing wood; attentive phrases that leave room for a reply.
- Blue
- Clear, spare tones; space between deliberately placed intervals.
- Violet
- Suspended glass; a shimmer around a question left open.
- Amber
- Soft felt and wood; rounded harmonics with weight and warmth.
- Coral
- Bowed, close intervals; a neighboring tone that will not entirely settle.
- Pearl
- Open harmonic light; consonant overtones that leave the center audible.
These are Field's conventions. They can become familiar through listening; they make no claim to be a universal emotional language.
How it holds a phrase
An envelope gathers and returns. A sweep reaches across the stereo space. A mantle unfolds above the center. Openness spreads the voices; definition gives their edges more articulation. Tension introduces a gently beating neighbor. A countercurrent becomes an answering phrase that eventually shares the center again.
A retained trace returns quietly after a voice has begun to fade. This is a musical expression of lasting influence. The piece does not replay individual turns or pretend to recover the sound of an earlier conversation.
Yours to invoke
Sound starts when you press Listen and ends in silence. There is no automatic looping. You can stop at any time, set the volume, or save a stereo WAV. The volume control changes playback; the WAV keeps the original mix. A shared composition link carries the same sound, with playback left to its recipient.
Changing the field while listening prepares the next performance. The current phrase keeps its shape. Closing the listening panel or leaving the tab stops playback.
Bring it to a conversation
Ask your assistant to make a Field and include its listening companion. The assistant interprets the available conversation once, then uses the shared controls for the image and sound. Audio can also be requested on its own.
Field expresses an interpretation of the exchange and the assistant's way of engaging with it. Neither harmony nor dissonance measures truth, hidden model state, or the worth of a conversation.
All sound is synthesized in your browser. There are no recordings to upload, accounts to connect, or audio services to call. Listening is an experiment: what carries across, and what becomes more interesting when it has time?
